Being 100 in 2012, I’m just saying this is one of my favorite songs of all time. I feel very corny. However, this corny doesn’t compare to the feeling that prevented me from buying the Take Care on 2xLP yesterday. Anyhow, it talks about “New Years Day” so I figured it would maybe be appropriate to post while I am up early for email timestamps to appear productive. That fucking breakdown tho. To some degree, I mostly think this band’s lyrics are kinda stupid. But “on every block, a reminder, you can’t stop this intersection” expresses and resonates with the angst and sadness that never goes away. If I were a total masochist, this would maybe be the song to wake me up in the morning.
My friend Joseppi showed me a recent episode a podcast with Geoff (the lead singer if you don’t know) that warmly shook hands with my soul. They played their last US show sometime last week. I didn’t go. This is a quote from their “our band is breaking up” letter in the new section of their website: Well, if you’ve been touched by our music or our dedication or our embarrassingly out-of-fashion sincerity, then this is for you, friend.
